Right Practice

1.13

Practice is the correct effort required to reach the state of yoga.

With this sutra, we are delving into what is the nature of correct practice that leads one to yoga.  The correct practice is one that is specific to the student. A steady effort needs to be put in the practice. This is where the guidance of a teacher that understands the personal and social character of the student comes in to picture. It would be wasted effort if the student is following something that is not  specific to the current state, or is following advice that belongs to someone else.

Tatra sthitau yatno abhyāsaḥ
